Environmental Analysis
Keeping an eye on the environment. Environmental analysis provides important information about the state of our environment. The use of our crystals enables precise measurements of pollutants and environmental parameters, thereby helping to protect our natural resources.
Environmental monitoring and analysis (CeBr3; Ce:LBC)
Radionuclides can be found everywhere in our environment. The decay chains of radionuclides and associations of minerals, for example, allow conclusions to be drawn about soil quality. Scintillators are successfully used to map arable soils and develop intelligent fertilisation plans.
Another form of environmental monitoring using scintillators was planned and implemented after the Chernobyl accident. The Federal Office for Radiation Protection and the German Weather Service jointly own a network of more than 1,700 stations throughout Germany. The radioactive components in the air are analysed here. The population can be warned quickly in the event of anomalies.
